What is Prodefine Volume (Shape XL)?
Prodefine Volume is a prescription injection intended for use as a temporary filler for the correction of skin defects such as wrinkles or scars. It is also recommended for addressing broader skin imperfections that affect larger volumes and the body.
Are there Contraindications I should know about?
Prodefine Volume must not be used under the following circumstances:
1. For injections in the periorbital zone (eyelids, under eye bags), blood vessels, augmentations of the mammary tissue, bone, tendon, ligament, or muscle implants.
2. Prodefine Volume should not be administered to patients with previous or current autoimmune diseases, immunotherapeutic drug treatment, proven tendency for hypertrophic scars, keloids, pigmentation disorders, multiple serious allergies, infections and inflammatory processes near the treated area, coagulation disorders, or recognized hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid.
3. It should not be used by pregnant or nursing women or individuals under the age of 18. .
What are the Warnings I Should Understand About?
DDuring the injection procedure, there is a risk of inadvertent injection into blood vessels, which could lead to vascular occlusion, abscess, necrosis, or embolic phenomena. To prevent this, lightly aspirate with the syringe before injecting to ensure the needle is not in a blood vessel. Avoid using Prodefine Volume in combination with other injectable products or mixing with other preparations before use.
Do not use Prodefine Volume on skin with redness, swelling, pigmentation changes, inflammation, infection, or fever. Patients taking medications that slow blood clotting may experience bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Patients on anticoagulant medication should stop using it, in agreement with their doctor, at least 14 days before receiving Prodefine Volume injections.
What Precautions Should My Doctor Advise Me?
Avoid using Prodefine Volume on patients with ongoing infections or inflammatory processes near or at the injection site. It is recommended not to use Prodefine Volume in areas where other implants have been performed or simultaneously with other injectable products.
What Possible Adverse Reactions Should I be Made Aware of?
Following the use of Prodefine Volume, injection-related adverse reactions may include pain, itching, altered pigmentation, and tissue density changes at the injection site, which usually resolve within a week. Some patients may experience small oedemas that reabsorb in a few days.
